The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) released a report in July 2018 suggesting ways that families can limit exposure to certain chemicals at mealtime, including “the use of alternatives to plastic, such as glass or stainless steel, when possible.” The report explained that “…some additives are put directly in foods, while “indirect” additives may include chemicals from plastic, glues, dyes, paper, cardboard”. Further, “Children are more sensitive to chemical exposures because they eat and drink more, relative to body weight, than adults do, and are still growing and developing.” While stainless steel items meet the recommendation to avoid plastic products in children, Ahimsa® products have the obvious advantage of not breaking like glass.

No. Our steel is durable, so it won’t break or shatter with everyday use, like glass. And it won’t peel, like other colored stainless steel products you’ve seen. We use a special process that allows the colors to naturally occur in the metal.

Before, my son Totty was really sensitive about anything cold or wet to touch. He needed foods separated, he avoided forks and spoons, and the only cup he would drink from was one with a straw and a lid. And because of that, meals just fell into a routine where he sat in his high chair, his plate was set down for him, and that was simply how he felt safe eating.
But now...everything looks different o
I watch him hold his plate in the kitchen....wait patiently for it to be filled, and proudly carry it to the table on his own.
He's drinking from a simple open cup now!!!
He feels curious, Independent and comfortable and it all started when we swapped his dishes to these and I truly wish I had sooner do
They keep the temperature consistent and it gives him that little sense of security I never even realized he needed, and I think that as well as not changing the taste of his food like the other surfaces were really what makes the difference!!

My kids loved this set! From how they look, to it being fun to eat off cool looking plates! I have only had them a week but so far so good! The colors are beautiful. The bowls stack but are hard to pull apart for the kids so that is frustrating but I would buy again!

I don’t have a problem with the dinnerware that we ordered, what I do have a problem with is I never received my full order and every time I contact the company I am told “it will be shipped when it is available”. I believe this Nov 2024 will be 2 years since I’ve ordered and I still never received everything.
Update: ahisma did reach out to me. They now have their own internal customer service department who helped me to fully complete my order. They were very prompt and clear to respond to my questions and inquiries to make things right. I appreciate their willingness to work with me. The dinnerware we received has held up very well.

The mealtime set is such good quality and it looks cool! My 3.5 year old son loves it as do I. The prices in this set are worth the investment as they are such a nice size. Even though they are 12+ months, they aren’t too small at all for my toddler.

Okay, so I had my eye on these plates for years. But price was a deterrent. Finally went for it (because plastic and silicone kidware was needed to go) and so happy with these sets. We barely used our “adult” plates anymore so we ordered extra sets. It eliminates the battle over different plates and that alone is worth the cost 😝 Plus it’s nice for us all to eat off the same dinnerware. After a few months of use, I think they’ll stand the test of time!

I’ve purchased sets for my grandkids. I care about foods they ingest and how they’re served. Anything that minimizes their exposure to harmful toxins gets my vote and my investment. There is nothing I value more than their health and safety!

We love this set. We bought our first one to try out 2 years ago, and our son STILL doesn't eat off anything else (he prefers his blue plates, and "big blue spoons" to any other dinnerware). Only reason the review is a 4 is that the original spoon has gradually lost its blue color, so now it looks more like stainless steel than iridescent blue.
Side note - would really love to have a utensils package available, so we could just buy spoons and/or forks. We're constantly hand washing the spoons because we go through them so fast.

One of the cups had scratches in bottom and feel rough and look like rusting is happening

Product is great! I love it and my son is learning more a bout portions and diversifying his plate. Only downside is it's expensive and I think the company should work to make it more affordable for all parents to be able to purchase, plastic is so cheap.
Love the quality and unique design. Other stainless steel plates are very light and this has a nice durable heavy quality to it. My little one is a big eater so I found these portioned plate a bit on the small side but still satisfied with the product overall.
I bought these plates for my children, and I unwrapped them on Christmas morning as a gift for myself knowing my boys will be eating cleaner in the year 2022! Thank you, Manasa, for bringing light to the yucky plastics I have been all too dependent on! Not only are they the best, safest choice for my family, they are TRULY beautiful!!!

The kids and I are loving the meal set! Well made and very easy to use and clean. The kids love the feel and color of the dishes; it makes them feel great that they are using metal utensils and plates. The plates and bowls hold just the right amount of food for toddlers.
I bought 2 sets. The starting foods ( in blue) and the toddler set. I was using silicone bowls and spoons with my daughter because that was all I could find. I was worried the spoon would be too tough for her, but now that is what she insists on eating with. It also seems to be helping her perfect her fine motor skills, being able to pick the small thin spoon up. The cup is the first one she was able to use correctly and drink from. Not sure exactly why, but I am pleased with her learning curve with the starter set and happy that I purchased both sets.
