The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) released a report in July 2018 suggesting ways that families can limit exposure to certain chemicals at mealtime, including “the use of alternatives to plastic, such as glass or stainless steel, when possible.” The report explained that “…some additives are put directly in foods, while “indirect” additives may include chemicals from plastic, glues, dyes, paper, cardboard”. Further, “Children are more sensitive to chemical exposures because they eat and drink more, relative to body weight, than adults do, and are still growing and developing.” While stainless steel items meet the recommendation to avoid plastic products in children, Ahimsa® products have the obvious advantage of not breaking like glass.

Ahimsa cups are not only inert stainless steel and therefore, nontoxic and do not leach chemicals – but they are also the perfect size for small hands. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry advises that sippy cups should not be used for extended periods of time due to tooth decay. The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association discourages sippy cups because they can interfere with a child’s ability to develop a mature swallowing pattern. No. Our steel is durable, so it won’t break or shatter with everyday use, like glass. And it won’t peel, like other colored stainless steel products you’ve seen. We use a special process that allows the colors to naturally occur in the metal.

According to the Steel Recycling Institute, steel can be recycled over and over and over again without losing its integrity and requires less energy to recycle than to make anew. Most plastic unfortunately ends up in landfills and it is estimated to take 700 years to decompose. Our special coloring process that allows Ahimsa® products to be fully metal is environmentally friendly, so it does not produce toxic run-off into the ecosystem.

These bowls are great! Kids love them. They’re just as big as my other stainless steel bowls but stack so nicely that they take up half the space in my cabinets. We also consider it a plus that it keeps food hot/cold. It’s worth the $ when i think of how often i was buying new plastic stuff because it was getting old and shedding pieces, yuck. I love that i can put these in the dishwasher. The time i save not having to hand wash them because of concerns about leaching chemicals alone is worth the money.

These bowls are so pretty and durable! We bought them for our kids but I love using them, as well. I want to also buy a silver set to use for nuts and things when we have parties. Such a great option for our kids since glass can be easily broken and we have young kids. I’m so glad I was able to buy them during a 40% off sale that I learned about after joining their text notifications. As soon as there’s another I’ll be buying all of their other pieces! I ordered a couple sets the first time but I need one more set so we can have them for all of our nieces and nephews when they visit, too!

I love these larger size bowls. They expand the usage for our older 4 year old who kept asking for multiple bowls of cereal in the 8 oz size. We also have two younger children now and just needed more than the mealtime set. They’re beautiful and fine for regular meals in addition to snacks. Worth the price for quality and peace of mind purposes.

I bought one set of bowls for my neighbor’s toddler & one set…for me! I love them and use them as snack bowls. Now they keep disappearing because my hubby keeps grabbing them & taking them into other rooms in the house ;)

I couldn’t be happier with my purchase of these beautiful bowls! They have so many uses - the normal snacks, oatmeal, cereal etc. but also make amazing bowls for serving toppings for Sundaes - eaten out of Ahimsa cups. My kids love to eat side salads out of these. I love to eat out of them myself for portion control. They are just gorgeous! As a busy mom of 6 I love that they are dishwasher safe and more importantly safe for my family to eat out of.

These are great quality and really solid bowls. We like that it stacks really well. Perfect size for my 5 & 3 YO for snacks and meals. The bowls are a little heavy and the external surface does get really hot really quick when serving hot food.
Thank you for the feedback! Our dishes aren’t insulated or double walled, but they're great for keeping your food at the right temperature. Stainless steel is awesome for keeping hot foods hot and cold foods cold! But remember, always make sure the food is at a safe temperature before serving! 😊 If the bowl feels too hot to touch, then it's a sign that the food might be too hot for your kiddos. Also, our plates, bowls, and cups will never get hotter than the food or drinks you're serving. That's the magic of science! ✨

I waited for a great sale to buy these. I’m so glad I finally got them. They are super sturdy and are the cleanest dishes in my dish washer. No signs of wear after maybe 3 weeks of hard use. The color is very pretty and appealing to my 1 and 5 year olds. I was worried about the bowls being noisy, but it’s not an issue. I bought one 4 pack, and that’s a sufficient number for our home with 2 living kids. If you’ve been waiting and have a deal, go for it. You’ll be glad to finally get a high quality eating product for your kid.
