The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) released a report in July 2018 suggesting ways that families can limit exposure to certain chemicals at mealtime, including “the use of alternatives to plastic, such as glass or stainless steel, when possible.” The report explained that “…some additives are put directly in foods, while “indirect” additives may include chemicals from plastic, glues, dyes, paper, cardboard”. Further, “Children are more sensitive to chemical exposures because they eat and drink more, relative to body weight, than adults do, and are still growing and developing.” While stainless steel items meet the recommendation to avoid plastic products in children, Ahimsa® products have the obvious advantage of not breaking like glass.

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry advises that sippy cups should not be used for extended periods of time due to tooth decay. The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association discourages sippy cups because they can interfere with a child’s ability to develop a mature swallowing pattern. No. Our steel is durable, so it won’t break or shatter with everyday use, like glass. And it won’t peel, like other colored stainless steel products you’ve seen. We use a special process that allows the colors to naturally occur in the metal.

According to the Steel Recycling Institute, steel can be recycled over and over and over again without losing its integrity and requires less energy to recycle than to make anew. Most plastic unfortunately ends up in landfills and it is estimated to take 700 years to decompose. Our special coloring process that allows Ahimsa® products to be fully metal is environmentally friendly, so it does not produce toxic run-off into the ecosystem.

Love these. Wish they were more resilient to dishwashing, but the kids are absolutely loving them and they are our go to. I can’t explain why they are so much better than other plates, but the weight feel and material are just perfect. We swapped out all our plastic and silicone that was starting to wear and concerning us.

My kids are grazers and like to eat various things throughout the day. These plates are great because they fit anything, and can be easily rinsed or cleaned to switch over to a new food. They love the colors and were so excited to get these!

My daughter requests her ‘pink’ dishes if I try to offer food in something else. We have all three color meal sets and recently purchased the blue regular plates. Very happy we made the switch! Love that they are easy to clean and knowing they are sanitary unlike the plastic/silicone options we used to use.

I assumed with the high price tag that these would at least last awhile before the finish degraded but it only took a few uses, about a week, and one spaghetti dinner.

Plates are nice and sturdy but I wouldn't get the blue ones because the coloring has been leaving them. The center of the plates are just becoming silver. Not sure if it something to be concerned about so I dont serve my kids food on it.
It’s a great product for cold foods but not for
Hot meals. The plate heats up fast and can’t be held on the bottom.
Thank you for your feedback! Our dishes aren’t insulated or double walled, but they're great for keeping your food at the right temperature. Stainless steel is awesome for keeping hot foods hot and cold foods cold! But remember to always make sure the food is at a safe temperature before serving. If the plate feels too hot to touch, it's a sign that the food might be too hot for your kiddos. Our dishes will never get hotter than the food or drinks you're serving.

The imperfections on the side of plates is very noticeable
My daughter loved everything as soon as we opened the package. She kept yelling "rainbow." They are absolutely beautiful and everything I expected. They are the perfect size for her meals. Even my husband and I are drinking out of the cups we got her. If they made larger sizes I would replace all of my dishes with these, but I'm happy that all of her dishes are safe.

I really like these, however in the future I will only purchase the classic stainless steel because my blue is no longer blue. I use the dishwasher and over time they have faded and are now more of a copper color. I would recommend only washing the pretty colored ones by hand to avoid the discoloration.
